Samsung has launched the Galaxy S6 Active model last year, to complete its high-end product range, with a model that is resistant to water and dust. Considering the new Galaxy S7 has received IP68 certification, we weren’t sure that we will witness the emergence of an S7 Active. It seems that Samsung will not discard these series, as the Galaxy S7 Active is already being listed in an official application.
Although it was not officially announced yet, it is quite possible to witness the launch of a device similar to that of last year, with updated hardware and design. S7 active could be equipped with a shock-resistant housing with rubberized sides and metallic physical buttons at the bottom, also improved water resistance capabilities.
At the moment, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge models can stay submerged in water at a depth of 0.5 meters for 30 minutes. Unofficial information about the new S7 active suggests that it would be developed under the code name “Poseidon”, after the Greek God of water, so perhaps we will witness a smartphone that can truly go “underwater”. Considering that S6 active has received MIL-STD-810g certification, a standard military resistance, more than likely that the new model will keep the tradition.
Considering the endurance tests over the past few weeks, it is most likely that Samsung will lean towards realizing a smartphone that is resistant to blows.
