FlexPai’s Foldable Phone to Become the First Device with the Snapdragon 855SoC Processor

FlexPai had already unveiled its twin display foldable phone earlier. But the company has now announced that its device fitted with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor which will be released in December 2018 (yes, you read it right!). This will be the first to market smartphone with this new generation processor, introduced just a week ago by Qualcomm. Pre-orders for the Flexpai’s foldable phone are already being accepted and the company claims the phones will be shipped later this month.

Flexible Display Can Act as Tablet

The main display in this FlexPai foldable phone, when fully opened is 7.8 inches in size almost as good as a tablet. And FlexPai has not only succeeded in making a flexible screen that can be bent 180°, but it also claims that it has tested the device by folding and unfolding it over 200,000 times and there is neither any damage to the display nor is there any distortion in the display. This has been independently confirmed by reviewers as well. The display has a resolution of 1920 x 1440 pixels. When folded, it measures 4 inches in width and can be comfortably inserted into your shirt pocket.

Now that the Snapdragon 855 Processor has been confirmed, the 8 GB RAM support and 512 GB internal storage will give the phone its high-end status.  Add the 3800 mAh battery, a dual 16 MP + 20 MP camera setup and the Android Pie version 9 operating system will only enhance that. FlexPai has added the Water 9000 UI to run the device.

Different Variants on Offer

The report on the new FlexPai foldable phone adds that there are going to be some more variants of the phone apart from the 8 GB RAM described above. There would be a 6 GB RAM plus 128 GB variant priced at CNY8,999 ($1300); an 8 GB RAM plus 256 GB variant at CNY9,998 ($1447) and the top-end 8 GB / 512 GB FlexPai foldable phone will sell at CNY12,999 ($1882).

As mentioned, the phone can be ordered now on the company’s official website in China for December deliveries.

Samsung is planning to release a foldable phone in the first quarter while others like Huawei to have plans to launch one soon.
