Did you have an error that sounds like ‘Maps Have Stopped Working’ in the last few days on your Android? Then you have come to the perfect place to fix it! Just read this and then in a few minutes you will get rid of it. This tutorial is good especially if you rely on Maps a lot, or if you’re just going on holiday and you need directions.
Update Google Maps
Just go to the Play Store and search for Google Maps. There you will find the option to update the app to the newest version. This new error can occur because Maps is out of date.
Restart your phone
We know it sounds a little too easy, but a lot of problems can be resolved just by pressing down the power button for a few seconds and selecting restart.
Delete the app cache
To do this you have to go to Settings > Application > Google Maps and Clear the Cache.
Cache partition wipe
For this, after you shut down your phone, hold the home, power and the volume buttons at once. This is going to take you to a menu, and by using the volume buttons go to wipe cache partition, and confirm using the power button. When the wipe is complete select reboot system. And there you go, Google Maps should work.
Factory reset
This process is an extreme measure and should only be used if nothing has worked by now. This is going to delete everything from your phone (photos, music, apps) so back up your data before. To perform this go to Settings > Personalization > Back up and reset, then follow the instructions from your screen to Erase everything and restore and reboot your data.
