Perform a soft reset Conduct a soft reset which may fix this problem. For that take out the battery from your phone and leave it for 30 seconds. Now re-insert and turn on your phone.

Try to connect the GPS in an open area where there is no signal barrier from the GPS satellite. Any obstacles such as tall buildings, mountains, walls can cause your phone GPS not to get the signal.

Also, check for phone’s software update, Maps software and if there is any liquid damage exists. To see if there is a new software version, go to Settings > About device > Software update. If there is an update, tap Update now. To see if there is a new version of Google Maps, open Google Play, tap on three horizontal lines to open the menu and then tap My apps. 

If the above steps do not work to solve GPS Connection Problem On Samsung Galaxy S5, then verify some network settings on your Galaxy S5, especially the Location services.

Following are the steps to verify location services on Galaxy S5:

  • Go to Home screen
  • Tap Menu
  • Select Settings
  • Tap More
  • Select Location services

If required, touch the slide which is located next to “grant access to my location” in order to enable the feature ON.

  • Mark the checkbox next to GPS satellites in order to enable it
  • Mark the checkbox which is located next to Use Wireless network. This feature will help you to determine your location using the wireless network or mobile data.
  • Now get back to Home screen
  • Tap Apps
  • Select Google settings
  • Tap Location
  • Mark the checkbox next to Access Location


Now you can try to use your Galaxy S5’s GPS in order to locate your position.
