  1. Method 3 worked like a charm…like a magic spell, which literally I could not have guessed in a Million years.
Trolled Samsung site and numerous other websites including Youtube videos, but nothing helped until I came across the above post. Method 3 is listed nowhere else. Amazing how Samsung chooses not to share the Method 3 on their official support website.
Totally disappointed with Samsung. Time to switch phones.

  2. Galaxy S5 not showing on PC?
    1. Connect S5 and PC with good USB cable.
    2. Make sure S5 drivers are installed.
    3. On S5, select SETTINGS
    4. Top menu. Scroll to CONNECTIONS.
    5. Scroll down to TETHERING & Hotspots.
    6. Check box.
    7. Top left. BACK
    8. Top menu. Scroll across to GENERAL.
    9. Scroll down to DEVELOPER OPTIONS. You may have to tap on this option 7 times to open up all the features listed.
    10. Scroll down to USB CONFIGURATIONS.
    11. Select MTP (Media Transfer Protocol)
    12. COMPUTER. Icon now showing.

    1. Hi Ray
Many thanks for the information. Unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy 5 that I have does not show the “USB Configurations” in Developer Options. So I am stuck at this level, any thoughts?
I have downloaded the USP App for this on the computer, but still the phone does not show up on the “This computer”, but other phones I have connected do automatically. Very strange. Any help appreciated.
      Regards Colin P Cummings

  3. I did dial the number two months ago and it worked. Now that I tried to transfer more photos did’t work again.
Any tip what I can do next?

  4. Dialer not working – just acts like I’m trying to call *#0808# which of course does nothing.

This is awful. My phone is full but I can’t move any files off it.

  5. Thank you so much for the information
I had great difficulty in connecting my phone to my PCWORLD but method number 3 worked for me. Thanks so much

  6. Method 3 worked for me. FINAAAAALLLLYY!!!… Jesus, what a drag this Galaxy S5 proved to be! Kies doesn’t recognize it. Kies 3 also doesn’t. Smart switch tells me to go take a hike… I installed all the drivers in the world, from the developer to the non-developer ones. Nothing was working! Why does Samsung hide this USB functionality so well from the users?!.. Jeezzzzz That’s some stupid shit!

  7. Method 3 worked kind of…It still doesn’t work like my Nikon camera app does and that is a shame because it doesn’t give access to files and folders on my laptop just those created on my android phone and that is a pain in the ass because you must download to the phone folders and then copy and paste to the laptop folders…so I say fuck that and will keep looking for another solution if there is one.

  8. When I put that code in the dialer nothing happens except the option to try to call that “number” which doesn’t work. What am I missing?

    1. Please check if your phone is connected to the PC properly, then try the step one more time. If then also nothing happens you can contact a technician and let them handle this issue.

      1. It appears the original Samsung USB cable isn’t read by my mac, but any other USB cable is. So we got it to work!

  9. Method 3!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I almost sent my phone back until I found your blog! I tried everything I could, all the other fixes, all the file transfer apps, hack codes, developer mode…..nothing would work. FINALLY, someone put up the FULL CORRECT code! *#0808# Others forgot to add the * at the beginning! I put the code in the dialer, the menu came right up, I selected MTP & ADB. I restarted and POOF Android File Transfer found the device!!
********* NOTE: you have to restart the phone for this method to work.********

  10. Or it’s a fake! If it’s not a real Samsung, you can download as many Samsung drivers as you wisk…it will never connect. To confirm whether your “Samsung” is real, download and run the PhoneInfo app from the Play Store. You may be surprised at what you find.

  11. Method 3 is awesome. No other website or person helped me on this issue, except for your article. Thanks a lot, you rock!

  12. Bravo for method 3. After many Google searches and many forums, a simple instruction did, not only the “trick”, but afforded me the other options within. Thank you so very much!! Cheers!!!

  13. I had to go with method 3 and even after accessing USB Settings from the code; and changing the protocols to be MTP + ADB, the Mac was still unable to recognise the device – nor did the S5 acknowledge – other than an alert sound – that it had been connected via USB. Any further advice?

    1. I had such same issue, or so, from the very first day, after I installed samsunk kies.
I connect my S5 to a PC with the original usb cable.
Kies supposedly installed samsung usb drivers. But when I connect my S5, I see a yellow Icon in my devcie manager. It means that my device is not recognized, even as MTP nor PTP.
What I did is to remove this device in the list, then make an automatic detecttion. Then I can see a proper icon, and my S5 is recognized.
But the problem come back after I reboot my wiindows7 PC.
So my problem is not entirely fixed.
