Fitbit Announces Its First Smartwatch, Fitbit Ionic

It’s official! Fitbit is now in the smartwatch game. The company has announced its first smartwatch today, Fitbit Ionic.

When it comes to wearable devices, Fitbit is at the top for years as one of the best manufacturers in the field. Last year, they have introduced Fitbit Blaze, a watch focused on fitness. But, compared to other options such as Apple Watch and Android Wear, Fitbit Blaze was left behind because it doesn’t have the features these two have.

Today, Fitbit announced Fitbit Ionic Smartwatch that will come out in October. It will cost $299.95.

The most expensive device from Fitbit is made from premium materials. It is strong and has a lightweight aluminum case with intelligent frame for which the company used the nano-molding technique.

Fitbit Ionic comes with HI-RES touchscreen and it has integrated antenna. In addition, it has a scratch-proof screen and it’s water-resistant.

Fitbit Ionic is primarily a fitness smartwatch, and it comes with a ton of fitness features, such as built-in GPS, Personal coaching, Heart Rate, and more. It also supports third-party apps and gives users the ability to store and play music, make payments, etc.

It includes customizable clock faces. And there is more. It works with Bluetooth headphones and it has the battery that will last for days. All this sounds really promising. Same as on the Apple watch, you can change the band, and there are three options to choose from, classic, sport, and leather.

Fitbit introduced one more new product – wireless sport headphones, Fitbit Flyer. A perfect fit for the smartwatch as the company says the new headphones automatically pair with the watch.

With all this said, many are wondering will Fitbit Ionic be able to compete with Apple Watch and Android Wear. No one knows that for sure. We will have to wait and see. Anyways, the conclusion is – Fitbit Ionic looks awesome and it comes with so many great features.
