First Major Update To Windows 10 Is Now Available

Microsoft releases first major update to Windows 10. The update is now available.

Terry Myerson, Microsoft’s Vice President for Windows shared the news in a blog post.

“Today, we reach our next milestone as the first major update to Windows 10 is now available* for PCs and tablets,” he wrote.

The update will bring many improvements. When it comes to experience improvements, users can expect 30 % faster boot time than Windows 7 on the same machine.

Microsoft Edge will offer improved security and performance, and it now syncs with your Reading list items and Favorites across devices. Cortana is improved as well, and it now this virtual assistant becomes available in Australia, India (in English), Canada and Japan. The update brings improvements to Photos, Mail, OneNote, Calendar, Xbox, Groove, Solitaire and more.

The company is introducing two free services that are designed for IT, Windows Update for Business, and Windows Store for Business.

“If already running Windows 10, you will receive the November update according to your Windows Update settings. If you’re running Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, you can take advantage of the free upgrade offer and receive the November update as part of your Windows 10 upgrade.”
