It is hard to believe, but Final Fantasy 7 is more than 20 years old. Despite its age, the game remains a popular one among players. That is the reason why people go very excited when a Final Fantasy 7 remake was announced.
Since we have been waiting for quite some time for new information, gamers began to wonder if we will see the game anytime soon. Recently we discovered some new details about the remake and we are ready to share them with you.
Thanks to Reddit user Dan_Tsukasa, we managed to learn more about the process behind the remake. It appears that at first this project belonged to developer CyberConnect2, and then the Square Enix took the game, and it started the whole thing almost from zero.
“They don’t have 4 years of work, they have 2. The announcement that square was taking the game away from Cyberconnect2, they didn’t take it away and continue it, they started it again because cyber connect’s work was just so useless and not far enough along, but still far enough along that remaking it was faster than refactoring it… (it wasn’t in a good state at all),” Dan_Tsukasa explained.
This decision might mean that the game will be better than we expected it to be, but, at the same time, it also means that we will have to wait a lot longer, as two years of work have been lost.
When it came to the possible launch date, here is what the redditor had to say “It could be far along, it depends how much they’re outsourcing and how optimized their workflow is. As the FFXV workflow was super inefficient for a hell of a long time, if that’s improved and if they’re doing things modularly like I imagine then its certainly possible they’re far along with the first release.”
