Everything You Need to Know About Windows 10 S

It’s a well-known fact that Microsoft Windows is the most popular operating system in the world as far as personal computers and laptops are concerned. I, for one, have never had a computer to run on anything else, although I did experiment with some other alternative. And while the latest version, Windows 10, may have its shortcomings, it’s still one of the Microsoft’s best OS endeavors to date.

And now, the Windows 10 family is preparing to welcome a new member alongside Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Home. We’re talking about Windows 10 S, of course. Windows 10 S isn’t an update, but it isn’t a new OS in itself either. It was built off of Windows 10 Pro, and it’s basically that but with a simpler approach and a more basic interface, as Microsoft have stated. But is it any good? Let’s find out.

Windows 10 S – Difficult to Use

I’ll be direct and keep it short here: the answer to the previous questions is a strong no. It’s not that Windows 10 S is necessarily bad or a flop, but it’s just confusing and too much like Windows 10 Pro without the actual advantages of Windows 10 Pro for it to bring anything new to the table and establish itself as a necessary OS.

Windows 10 S cannot be purchased separately or installed; it does however come out of the box with the new Surface Laptop, as long as other mid-range third-party devices. And if you don’t like it (which is highly likely unfortunately), you can just upgrade it to Windows 10 Pro with just a few clicks. This makes the entire thing all the more confusing and leaves everyone unsure of what the actual purpose of Windows 10 S is.
