How to Enhance Privacy in Windows 10

Although Windows 10 wasn’t all that popular at first and it seemed to be doomed to follow the same road south of success that Windows 8 took, it is now Microsoft’s top operating system. It managed to surpass Windows 7 in popularity, which is partly because Microsoft kept working at it and making it worth our while, and partly because the company simply forced us to install it by making all new devices either come with it on them or with a pronounced proclivity for it.

And now the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is finally coming. This update has been talked about for the entirety of 2017, and it’s one that is bound to change the face of Windows 10 quite dramatically once installed. A big aspect that the Fall Creators Update tackles in Windows 10 is that of privacy, in the sense that it will try to give you less of it if you don’t disable certain features from the get go. But still, Microsoft holds true to its initial goal and allows users to choose how private they want to keep their data.

So let’s assume you’re in the process of installing the Fall Creators Update for Windows 10.  When you fire it up, Windows will at some point present you with a Privacy Settings screen with some options in it that have to do with Location, Speech Recognition, Tailored Experience, Relevant Ads and Diagnostics. All of these are enable by default. Microsoft has placed a brief, yet telling explanation of what each of these categories entails under each and every one of them.

So, if you feel like any of these might be a little too much for you and you consider it a crass invasion of privacy (they’re really not, but some people will dislike them), then you can just turn them off.
