A comparison between Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp and Telegram

The most popular IM apps used currently are Facebook Mesenger, Whatsapp and Telegram. In this article all three messaging apps will be presented and even compared.

Facebook Messenger is quite famous and popular among users. It is easy, clean and has an easy interface, making it approachable to all age categories of users. The application also has voice and video calling; it has funny GIFs and Stickers. With its most recent update, Facebook Messenger allows users to share their location with their friends. Some negative issues with the application will be the fact that it has a secret conversion resulting in the automatic deletion of messages. The app appeared in 2008 and it was originally meant to be a chat service.

Whatsapp is the most popular IM used and certainly the one with a gigantic active user base. To use this app you need to give your telephone number and then set up an account. Just as Facebook Messenger, the app allows you to send messages, voice messages, audio, photos, files, media and now even documents. The beauty of the app is that you can also create groups or just talk with individual people.

Some of the newest updates added for the cross-instant platform are Video Call and Voice call, new GIF and emoticons. Users can enjoy the platform from Android, iOS and Windows operating systems. Just like the other two apps, Whatsapp is also available on desktops and laptops.

Perhaps the least known or popular instant messaging service of the three is Telegram. It is a free cloud-based messaging service developed by Telegram Messenger LLP in 2013. The plus of this app is that it can support files up to 1 GB. Also it is more secure than the other two instant messaging services, while almost all the other features such as sending and receiving pictures, video or files.
