How Does Chrome Gets Updates?

Google’s search engine Chrome has been the most used web browser this past year. All good news comes with some bad news as well. The search engine that replaced in popularity Internet Explorer has been criticized. The main critic was its automatic updating mechanism. Plenty of users complained that the web browser changed to fast and without asking them if they do want the update.

Things we need to know about Chrome:

  1. Since its debut 9 years ago, chrome has done its updated automatically, asking users only to relaunch it one in a while.
  2. Chrome searched periodically for updates, every 23 hours and 20 minutes. Once the update is detected, Chrome starts the download and when the user starts the searching engine, the update is installed.
  3. In order to trigger an update manually, users must select from the Help menu: “About Google Chrome”. The option is under on the upper right part of the screen. Once you enter that option a message will be displayed. The message could either let the user know that “Google Chrome is up to date” or it will show the updating process and present a “Relaunch” option.
  4. Every six weeks a new version of Chrome is issued. The average time of this year’s updating process has been of 47 days (closer than seven weeks).

A brief history of Google Chrome:

Google Chrome was released back in 2008 and it can be used with Windows, MacOS, Android, iOS and Linux. The popular web browser almost never existed if it had been for Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt. We have to thank Google’s co-founders for insisting on the idea of creating a web browser of their own. The first operating system to use Google Chrome was Windows XP. Its reputation of a strong performance and simplistic interface has made Chrome into the popular web browser it is today.
