If you’re a fan of “Call of Duty: Black Ops”, you’re probably wondering when you’ll see the fourth installment in the COD sub-series. And you’re not alone: thousands of fans are asking the same thing, too.
The bad news is that COD publisher Activision has no official updates about the Black Ops 4 release date. The good news is that we might see the game in 2018, if rumors are to be believed.
Black Ops 4 Never-Ending Rumor
These rumors stem from the fact that there was a two-year and three-year gap between the previous Black Ops games. Video game developer Treyarch, which developed the Black Ops series, released the first installment in 2010. Black Ops 2 arrived two years later in 2012, and Black Ops 3 was rolled out three years later in 2015.
With these in mind, we can surmise that the Black Ops 4 will arrive in 2017 or 2018 — two years and three years after the 2015 release of Black Ops 3, respectively. Since we’re almost in the middle of 2017, the best guess is that Black Ops 4 will be released next year.
However, it’s important to note that these are only rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt.
Same Ol’ Developer for Black Ops 4
Aside from the release date of Black Ops 4, fans are also asking about who would develop it. Forbes contributor Paul Tassi predicts that the game will still be developed by Treyarch (he also predicts that Black Ops 4 will be released next year). This is great news for Black Ops fans since Treyarch has done a good job on the previous three installments of the sub-series and will hopefully continue the trend with the fourth installment.
While you’re waiting for Black Ops 4, you’ll want to check out Call of Duty: WWII, which will be released in November 3.
