Have you ever come across something so weird in the Google Play Store that it haunted you for days afterwards? Well, I guess everyone has at some point in their lives. But if you use Android devices for a while, you generally end up getting used to the overall weirdness going on on the Play Store every now and then. Still, there are some things that sometimes happen there that still leave me at a loss for words. Case in point: the new Google Play Services ad.
Well, in fact, it’s not what it sounds like. It’s not an ad for Google Play Services. If you use Android, then you know that Google Play Services doesn’t generally appear after you search for it, because it’s a system app. It’s just something that runs in the background and makes the Play Store work better, I guess. Still, nowadays a quick search in the Play Store for Google Play Services will actually reveal the thing. But the search result that comes up is not a normal one. Why, you might ask? Well, let me explain.
Be your own Boss, Dreams
First of all, if you do this and find the Google Play Services entry in the list that appears, you will notice that it has the orange rectangle icon that says ‘Ad’ under it. So the Google Play Store identifies Google Play Services as being an ad. Ok, weird glitch, but nothing too major, right? Well, the true weirdness begins now, because there is a short line of text displayed for the ‘ad’ in question, and it’s the most bizarre thing I’ve read this month. The quote under Google Play Services just says “Be your own Boss, Dreams”. What does this mean? What’s with the weird and improperly placed capital letters? What’s happening here Google? So many questions…
