If you’re up to date with all the latest tech news, then you know this already because it’s not recent at all: Google released a revamped and refreshed version of Google Earth back in April. And while the platform is much more accessible now and its interface is ten times more user friendly at least (because, let’s be honest, the old Google Earth was a mess), there are still a lot of things that many users don’t know of.
And these unknown things can change your experience with Google Earth forever if you just try them. So here are the three best tips that will help you make the most of Google Earth.
- See old maps
Google Earth has update maps of any location, but it also stores the older version. So if you want to see how the map of a location looked 10 years ago, you totally can. In order to use this, zoom in on a location and see if the clock icon appears at the bottom left side of the screen. If it does, that means that Google Earth has old maps of that location stored and can show them to you.
- Travel outside the planet
Although it’s called Google Earth, the app actually allows you to explore way more than that, such as the Moon, the planet Mars or the entire sky.
- Sightsee anytime you want
Even before the update, Google Earth has been all about sightseeing. But now you can live this experience at an almost authentic level thanks to all the new features. Our favorite one is the fact that each important place has an information card on it, so it’s like a guided tour of the world’s best locations.
