The upcoming ASUS ROG Phone 5 received a certification from the TENAA and China’s 3C authorities. This is a strong indicator of the possibility of the smartphone arriving in the market soon. Just today, the device was spotted in the database of the cross-utility platform Geekbench. It seems that the Taiwanese based company will run a few tests on the phone before giving it an official launch.
ASUS_I005DA, which happens to be ASUS ROG Phone 5’s model number, has been spotted with Snapdragon 888 on the Geekbench website. The SoC (System on a chip) finds a mention on the database under its codename ‘lahaina’ and has 16GB RAM. The device is compatible with Android 11 OS. In Geekbench’s single-core test, the phone managed a score of 1125. It registered a score of 3714 on the multi-core tests. Last year in December, another model of the phone with an 8 GB RAM was spotted at Geekbench.
As listed by TENAA, the dimensions of the smartphone are 172.834 x 77.252 x 10.29mm and it features a 6.78-inch display screen. There is a good possibility of the device having an OLED panel with a high refresh rate.
The smartphone comprises a 6,000mAh dual-cell battery. The 3C certificate it has received indicates that the model could have 65W fast charging support. The images of the device that have released to date show that it features a secondary display on the rear end.
The pictures also highlight the fact that Asus has collaborated with Tencent Games, a multinational company based in China, to ensure that the phone offers an optimized and high-end gaming experience to its users. The phone will also appeal to photography enthusiasts as there is a very good chance of it offering a 64-megapixel triple camera system.
As of now, ASUS has not given any confirmation about the official release date of the phone. There are strong rumors about a series of smartphones hitting the market in China post the Chinese New Year (February 12). With an aim to take advantage of the festive season, ASUS might decide to introduce the ROG Phone 5 during this time as well. Despite the competition, there will be a lot of interest among the consumers to invest in new electronic products. The phone, if launched around this time, will definitely benefit from this.
