The iPhone XL might sport the largest display screen among iPhones till date, 6.5 inches. It is as good as a phablet and may surprise and even shock some conservative Apple fans. But the phone, which may be called iPhone 11 as well, will feature most of the high-end specifications found in most flagship smartphones from the Apple stable.
OLED Display Likely
While there have been some talks that Apple has a rethink on the OLED display due to the cost factor, the iPhone XL is expected to have this superior technology only for its display. On the design front, the rumors indicate that Apple might choose a tougher material like ceramic than stainless steel for the outer casing but this is yet to be confirmed.
iPhone X May be Scrapped
There is speculation going around that once the new iPhone XL is established in the market, the special edition iPhone X may be slowly withdrawn from the market. Apple has done it for certain models in the past and may follow a similar practice now as well. With Apple having switched to Face ID, the era of touch ID or fingerprint ID may be over, at least as far as the iPhones are concerned. The only improvisation expected is to allow for unlocking of the phone using Face ID even when the iPhone is placed horizontally. This facility does not exist now.
The processor would be the latest A series Bionic chipsets, in all probability, the A12. Besides this, the phone will have a moderate 4 GB RAM and will obviously run on the latest iOS 12 operating system, pre-loaded. The camera set up in the rear on the iPhone XL is likely to be a dual one. Though there is no indication of the size of the battery. The iPhone XL is definitely going to be fitted with the more powerful battery than any of the other models, looking into the large-sized display the phone has to support. The Smart Connector feature is expected on this new phone as well. This ensures that the device can be connected to external devices/accessories. Apple might obtain IP68 certification for the iPhone XL for water and dust resistance.
The 6.5 inch iPhone XL could be priced at around $1000 if one went by the rumors.
