The Galaxy Watch was just released by Samsung and it comes with an interesting redesign and plenty of features. Will it be a worthy adversary to the Apple Watch on the wearables market?
On August 9, Samsung has unveiled their Galaxy Watch during the company’s Unpacked event and apparently, we can expect it to arrive in stores on September 6. It will be available in two case sizes, one with a 42 millimeter case and the other with a 46 millimeter case. Also, a new color is available, rose gold.
On the other hand, Samsung released a ‘Wireless Charger Duo’ which can charge up its Watch and your phone as well. The Galaxy Watch will come with built-in network support, which will allow you to call anyone without reaching for your phone.
There are major differences in terms of design between the two. The Apple Watch is square-shaped, while the Galaxy Watch opted for a more circular look. It used to be that the Samsung Galaxy Gear wearable came as a chunky device, which made it difficult for people with smaller wrists to wear it.
With that in mind, the people at Samsung decreased the size a little bit, while still offering a large 46 mm version as well. Apple is offering even smaller measures, 38 millimeters and 42 millimeters, making their wearables comfortable for most of us.
Besides its built-in network support, the Galaxy Watch comes with increased battery life, its largest version being able to be used for a week. If this is, in fact, the case, then it will be hard not to go with Samsung’s product. Also, the Galaxy Watch can be used in water up to 50m deep.
The Apple Watch can also be used at this depth and it can make calls without an iPhone as well. Samsung opted for a more fitness-inclined product. When you start a workout, the device will start tracking you within 10 minutes, being able of tracking 40 distinct exercises.
The Galaxy Watch will also be able to keep track of your sleeping pattern to see how well you rest and it will even give you pointers on how to get a better night’s sleep. Just as the Apple Watch, it will also be able of tracking your stress levels and it will let you know when it’s time to take a break.
