Rumors continue to emerge about Apple iPhone SE 2, the budget-friendly variant of the iPhone that most people could afford around the globe. A recent update claims that it may not be called the SE 2 but rather be known as the Apple iPhone 9 using which the company will fill up the empty slot they created when they jumped to iPhone X.
A Japanese technology website named Macotakara is where the rumor originated about the upcoming Apple phone’s specifications and the rumored name change. Apart from being known as the iPhone 9, it will be quite compact in a world of extremely large phones with just 5.4-inches display. The phone will support Touch ID so that users can depend on it to be unlocked instantly and also not have to use a face scanner all the time.
According to the source, it is being rumored that Apple is planning to focus on making an iPhone SE 2 that is very similar in size and specifications to the iPhone 8. It allows them to make use of the manufactured shells and components used in the iPhone 8 but ditch some of them so as to reduce the pricing of the product.
Big Bezels and a Physical Fingerprint Scanner
If you are not a big fan of bezels, you may not enjoy this phone as it is designed to be an old school with large bezels on all sides and will have a single rear camera. The touch ID fingerprint scanner has moved to reach new heights in Samsung Galaxy and OnePlus phones as they are now implemented under the display. Apple iPhone 9 or the iPhone SE 2 will retain all things retro by opting for a physical touch button using which users will be able to scan their fingerprint and unlock the phone. It will also support Face ID with an integrated front camera.
Another possible upgrade is the support for wireless charging on a budget iPhone combined with TrueDepth camera to provide more value for your purchase. If priced right, the device could easily become one of the hottest selling phones out there and compete directly against mid-range Android devices. After all, there are so many individuals who love iOS and continue buying older devices like iPhone 7 as they are the only affordable option available.
The newer and upgraded iPhone SE 2 with a better camera, touch ID and a compact 5.4-inch display with the right price tag could definitely disrupt the mid-range Android market. We are yet to know the official launch date.
