According to the Twitter account @KosutamiSan, Apple has reportedly created prototypes of colored versions of its MagSafe Charger for the iPhone, indicating the potential for future releases in various color options beyond the standard silver model.

The collector of rare Apple products claims to have obtained prototype information suggesting that Apple had plans to introduce a "colored version" of its current MagSafe charger. This colored version would be similar to the MagSafe Charging 3 Charging cables designed for the MacBook Air.

In the MacBook Air package, Apple includes a color-matched MagSafe 3 charging cable, available separately in four MacBook Air colors: Space Gray, Silver, Midnight, and Starlight.

@KosutamiSan states that Apple's prototyped colored MagSafe Charger for iPhone offers greater color saturation compared to the MagSafe power cables. To exemplify this, the collector shared an image of a Starlight-colored MagSafe puck. Additionally, they claim that Apple has also created similar colored prototypes for the unreleased horizontal stand-based model called the "Magic Charger."

It remains unclear if the prototyped colored chargers were meant to complement unreleased iPhone colors that were never mass-produced. Furthermore, Apple's intentions regarding the launch of colored versions in the future remain unknown. Nevertheless, the information about the prototypes is intriguing, and there is a possibility that Apple may release more variations of its MagSafe charger to compete with rivals in the emerging Qi2 market, which is expected to develop later this year.

Apple is actively contributing to the new version of the Qi open standard, which will function similarly to MagSafe. Consequently, upcoming models like the iPhone 15 are expected to support 15W wireless fast charging, even with third-party chargers that do not carry Apple certification. This development removes a significant obstacle for third-party wireless chargers, allowing them to compete with Apple's MagSafe accessory.
