While iPhones released at the end of the third quarter every year hog most of the limelight, the first quarter itself could see some action in Apple Inc on the other product lines. The ones being talked about are the Mac Pro, the iPad and the iPad Mini.
The Xeon Processor for Mac Pro Likely
One of the widely expected updates to the Mac Pro is the introduction of the Intel Xeon processor that has 28 cores and 56 threads. It is expected to revolutionize the performance of this Apple device. Though there is one view prevailing that this update to the Mac Pro may not happen so soon and may get pushed to much later in the year, there may be a change in the design with the modular concept being unveiled. The other announcement could be on iMac with an iMac Pro being released. But these are more in the form of expectations than a realistic assessment of the status of these products within Apple.
iPads Definitely Appear to be Ready for Updates
But there appears to be no such uncertainty with regard to the iPads from Apple in the first quarter of 2019. The 9.7 inch iPad model may get an annual face-lift. The expectation here is that Apple may showcase a model with reduced bezels on the display, introduction of Facial ID on the device and so on.
iPad Mini is another product that is likely to witness some marked changes. These have been suggested by some sources in China where the products are manufactured and may have a lot of credence. An update to this small-sized tablet is being anticipated for a while now and if not immediately, it is likely that before the quarter is over, Apple may surely test the waters with a revamped iPad Mini. It is even feasible, Apple may think in terms of countering the hype around the Samsung flagship smartphone releases likely in February. Remember one of the models to be released by Samsung may sport a phablet-like display. Apple could take that on. The coming weeks may reveal more on this.
As early as next week, at the CES 2019, many components and accessories vendors for these Apple products may share their new products, giving an insight into what one can expect from the Cupertino tech giant later in 2019.
