Today, Apple officially announced the recall and exchange program for AC wall adapter, which is designed for 6 countries. The recall related to the possibility of damage and a risk of electrical shock if touched. This issue happened on AC wall adapter with two prongs designed for use in Continental Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Korea, Argentina, and Brazil. Apple mentioned that all those AC wall adapters were shipped from 2003 to 2015 with Mac and certain iOS devices, and were also included i the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit. For the other wall plug adapters, including those designed for Canada, China, Hong Kong, Japan, United Kingdom, and the United States and Apple US power adapters are not affected by this program.

Apple willingly recalls and exchange the affected wall plug adapters with a new one, redesigned adapter, free of charge. If you own that adapter, you can follow these steps to get the replacement.

  • Make sure your adapter is one of the adapters designed for those 6 countries.
  • The recalled adapter has 4 or 5 characters or no characters on the inside slot where it attaches to an Apple power adapter. While, the redesigned adapters have a 3-letter regional code in the slot (EUR, KOR, AUS, ARG, or BRA). Take a look at the picture below:
