The iPhone SE was released way back in March of 2016 and was a budget smartphone by Apple. Consumers have been looking forward to another iPhone SE since then and it looks like Apple is going to pay heed to their requests in 2020.
The device was rumored to go into mass production in early 2020 and now we have some stunning 5k renders and a 360-degree video showcasing the upcoming phone.
iPhone 9/SE 2 Leak
A trusted leaker has posted renders of what they call the iPhone SE 2 online. This leak incorporates some of the features that were revealed by the reputed Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo back in October last year. Some rumors also suggest that the new device will be named iPhone 9 to fill the gap in numbering created by the iPhone X in 2017.
The render shows a classic iPhone design with a 4.7-inch display with bezels on the side, a physical home button with a Touch ID sensor, as well as a single-lens rear camera setup. The design resembles that of the iPhone 8 but with a faster A13 Bionic processor and of course, no headphone jack.

iPhone 9/SE 2 Rumored Specifications
The renders show a classic physical Touch ID sensor embedded on the home button. According to the leaks, the device won’t have support for Face ID as well. It was rumored earlier that the upcoming 2020 iPhone flagship will come with an in-display fingerprint sensor to replace Face ID but the iPhone 9’s biometrics look like we are going back in time.
According to the leaks, the new budget iPhone will come with a 4.7-inch display but it won’t be the Super Retina XDR OLED display that we have seen in recent iPhones. The device is expected to come with an HD Liquid Retina Display instead.
The device will come with the A13 Bionic chip by Apple which was also seen in the iPhone 11. The processor has a clock speed of 2.65GHz and is made using a 7nm process. The memory options for the device will likely be 3GB of RAM along with 64GB and 128GB variants. Software-wise, the device will ship with the latest iOS 13 which brings new features to the iPhone ecosystem like Dark mode and more.
In a Nutshell
The iPhone 9/SE 2 will be the successor of the budget-oriented iPhone SE, which was released back in 2016. It is expected to have a relatively low price tag starting from $399, which is just half of what the iPhone 11 costs. The smartphone is also expected to come in Silver, Space Grey as well as Product Red color variants.
