It is finally here! After months and months of leaks and rumors (most of them true), Apple announced iPhone X at the product launch event. Tech giant held the event in the Steve Jobs theater in Cupertino, California.
Of course, the iPhone X is not the only new product Apple has introduced on Tuesday, but it certainly is the most-awaited one. There are also iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, Apple Watch Series 3, and Apple TV 4K.
The all new iPhone X was the last product Apple introduced at the event, but as we know you are eager to read all the details, let’s see them right away.
Let’s start with the name. It’s pronounced iPhone 10. The X is for number 10 in Roman numerals.
The iPhone X has edge-to-edge Super Retina display that uses OLED technology, 2436 x 1125 resolution, and 458 ppi. It is water and dust resistant. As you can see in the photo, it has a brand new design. The phone is made of surgical-grade, stainless steel and comes in two finishes, silver, and space gray.
The iPhone X won’t disappoint you in the camera department. It has 12MP dual cameras, deeper pixels, new color filter, larger and faster sensors, Quad-LED true tone flash, and f1.8 and f2.8 apertures. The front camera now has portrait mode and portrait lighting.
This long-awaited smartphone comes with the brand new A11 Bionic processor which has 6 cores and 64-bit design. The iPhone X has two model options, 64 GB and 256 GB.
The battery lasts two hours more than the battery of iPhone 7. What’s more, the iPhone X supports wireless charging using Qi standard. This means that you’ll be able to charge it with third-party wireless charges that use Qi standard. But, before you even think about a third-party charger, there is something awesome that comes from Apple – AirPower.
What’s AirPower? It is a pretty spacious mat that allows users to charge the iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods at the same time. Just place the device on the AirPower and the charging will start.
The iPhone X doesn’t have a home button and Touch ID is replaced with Face ID. It unlocks the phone by detecting the face of the user.
“So, Face ID is the future of how we unlock our smartphones and protect our sensitive information”, Phil Schiller said.
He also made a comparison with Touch ID. With Touch ID chances that someone unlocks your phone with their fingerprint are 1 in a 50000. The Face ID numbers are impressive. The chances that someone else’s face unlocks your phone are 1: 1000000.
One more thing. Face ID can be used for Apple Pay and it will work with third-party apps.
Apple has also announced Animoji – animated emojis. How Animojis work? They use iPhone X Face ID features to scan your face and create custom 3D animated versions of your facial expressions. They will use your voice as well. Once you have created it, you can send it as a message.
What about its price? It starts at $999. If you have been planning to pre-order the phone, write down the following date – October 27. That’s when the pre-orders begin. The phone will hit the shelves on November 3.
