The App Annie reported that App Store dominates the number of annual app revenue but they are defeated in terms of the annual app download by Google Play Store. The top annual app download for Play Store is got from the emerging markets, such as Brazil, India, Indonesia, Turkey, and Mexico – the countries with lots of Android users.
“… Google Play’s significant increase in worldwide downloads came largely from emerging markets (a fact that we noted in our Q1 2015 and Q3 2015 Market Index reports); the top five contributors were Brazil, India, Indonesia, Turkey and Mexico. Together, these countries accounted for nearly half of Google Play’s year-on-year download growth.”
The App Store gets is profit from China, Japan, and the U.S, which contributed nearly 90% of the App Store’s year-on-year growth.
App Store and Play Store are two application stores, which will always compete in dominating the mobile market. The number of revenue and download are two things used to measure the successful of the application store. Up to now, Play Store managed to surpass the download number than App Store, but the App Annie does not predict when the Play Store will surpass the annual revenue from the App Store.
