A rather sweet take on the newest Android operating system name, rumors and hints suggest that the Android O will be taking on the name of Android Oreo. Teased quite a few times during the Google I/O 2017, it has yet to be confirmed during the conference but it might as well could have been. The exact information will only be known to us once the later parts of summer arrive, but it is expected that after the latest betas are completed, the Android Oreo will take center stage.
Cookies for the press
Google didn’t shower the entire press room with Oreo cookies, but they did place enough of them to warrant speculations on part of the press. Google is really capable of pulling of teasers for the press to milk. They were made to stand-out and, probably, to hint the press about something.
This should not come as a big surprise as Oreo and Google have worked together before and seem to be furthering their efforts towards collaboration. For example, together they’ve made the mobile game ‘’Oreo Space Dunk Challenge’’. While not a blockbuster of a game, there is a hint in it which showcases how close the two companies are. During the loading screen, one can read the disclaimer ‘’Created with our friends at Google’’.
Going a bit by guessing, but it Google seeks to brand its latest update with a sweet dessert then only Oreo can be the choice, since it’s the only one that starts with the letter O. Previously, it has had other versions of Android that had sweet related names, the Android Cupcake comes to mind.
Oreo was not the only sweet-related company that Google enjoyed collaboration with. In 2013, Google named its operating system the Android 4.4 KitKat and it proved a great marketing benefit for both of the companies.
We can clearly see that Google is not afraid to associate itself with sweets and the benefits they bring.
