Android Oreo 8.0 Update Available for Samsung Galaxy Smartphones

Google launched their Android 8.0 Oreo in August 2017. As soon as the update was available for smartphones, many devices have been or many haven’t been eligible for this update.

Samsung is one of the companies to receive the latest Android update, slowly releasing the OS updates for their devices. But while users wait for the update, here’s a list for you with the Samsung devices which will be updated to Android Oreo 8.0.

Samsung Galaxy Smartphones that are Eligible for Android Oreo 8.0 Update

Some of these devices are at their first major Android update, while others are at the second one. This means that those who get through two major Android updates will no longer be eligible for a third one, the Android 9.0 P.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+

These devices will get the latest update, as they’re the latest flagship smartphones for the Company.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8

Galaxy Note 8 has been announced only after 2 days of the official launch for the new Android update. The update will probably be released for this device before the beginning of 2018.

Samsung Galaxy S7

This device came out with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow version in the spring of 2016, got to have the Nougat version at the end of 2016 and will benefit from the Oreo update in the first or second quarter of the next year.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

Similar to the Galaxy S7, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge had Marshmallow and Nougat OS and will get the new Oreo update in the first or the second quarter of 2018.

Other devices such as: Galaxy S7 Active, Galaxy A7 (2017), Galaxy A5 (2017), Galaxy A3 (2017), Galaxy J7 (2017), Galaxy J5, Galaxy Note FE, Galaxy Tab S3, Galaxy C9 Pro, Galaxy C7 Pro, Galaxy J7 Prime, will receive the Oreo update after the above mentioned devices receive it, meaning that the users that own one of these will have to wait until 3rd or last quarter of 2018.

Samsung Galaxy Smartphones which May or May not be Eligible for Android Oreo 8.0 Update
These following devices haven’t yet been confirmed to receive or not the Oreo update: Galaxy A9 Pro, Galaxy A8 (2016), Galaxy J7 (2016), Galaxy J5 (2016), Galaxy J3 (2017), Galaxy Tab S2 (2016 versions), Galaxy Tab A (2016 versions).

Samsung Galaxy Smartphones which Will not be Eligible for Android Oreo 8.0 Update
These devices will not be eligible for Android Oreo 8.0 Update because they have already been through two major OS updates: Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and S6 Active, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy A3 (2016), Galaxy A5 (2016) and Galaxy A7 (2016), Galaxy J3 (2016), Galaxy J2 (2016) and Galaxy J1.
