Eager smartphone users await the update to Android 6.0 and while the update is available on selected phones only, HTC has confirmed that Marshmallow will be available on HTC one M9 and M8.
The company was hoping for the update to be available on the two phones by the end of the year, however, it appears that HTC M8 users may not have to wait as long, because it is being speculated that the update may reach the M8 a little early because the update has been certified by Bluetooth SIG already.
The certification does not disclose a specific date for the availability of the update which keeps a lot in doubt about the timing of the update. This keeps M8 users waiting for their update to the latest Android OS.
Some of the top features of Android Marshmallow that make it worth the update are:
- Battery optimisation – Android 6.0 helps users save battery through battery optimisation by regulating the performance of the background processes and the use of data while the phone is idle. Doze is a part of battery optimization which will help the phone conserve battery while it is not being used.
- App Permissions – Android users have always had to allow certain permissions for applications at the time of the installation of the app. This changes in Android 6.0 where apps will prompt the customers at the time it requires access to a certain part of the phone. This will make it easier for users to keep a check on what apps are doing in the background.
