An Inevitable Invention: The Flying Selfie Stick

People’s passion for selfie will not quell anytime soon, even though this activity makes many victims around the world. That is why the selfie sticks are evolving. We recently saw Flip It, a 4-in-1 device that is: a case, a selfie stick, a remote control with Bluetooth and phone support. Now, inevitably, came the flying selfie stick.

ROAM-e is a selfie drone which was built by the Australian company Iot Group. Preorders have already begun, and supplies will be made in June this year.

“We wanted to build a selfie stick on steroids. The problem of the traditional selfie stick is that it is limited by the length of the stick, “said Ian Duffell, Chief Executive of IoT Group.

After it is connected to a smartphone, the drone can be set to follow the user, using facial recognition technology, from a distance of up to 25m. The 5 MP camera on the ROAM-e can take pictures, capture panoramic images and videos.

The battery on the drone offers an autonomy of 20 minutes in flight. ROAM-e costs $349.
