Even though Adobe Flash used to be essential for a satisfactory browsing experience, that hasn’t been the case for a while now. In fact, Adobe Flash Player turned into a chaotic mess of a program, filled with bugs and even security threats at times. The downfall of Adobe Flash Player started ever since Apple refused to use it on any of its devices. Let’s face it, it’s all been downhill from there, and by no fault of Apple’s.
The truth is that Adobe Flash Player is simply outdated and obsolete. This is why Adobe finally decided to phase out Flash completely by the year 2020, which is something that many dreamed of. But there are also a lot of people that are extremely upset about it, and all for good reason. Although Adobe Flash Player is more than a threat than a useful program, it’s also an essential part of Internet’s history. So weeding out Flash completely means that a lot of content will automatically be lost forever.
This is the exact reason invoked by Flash supporters on their petition. There are a lot of people out there that acknowledge Flash’s crucial position in the history of the Internet, and still manage to admit its many flaws. The supporters of the ‘don’t take Adobe away’ petition (it’s not called like that actually, but it sounded funny) even went as far as to propose a solution for this issue. They offered to fix Flash themselves, with the condition that Adobe put out an open source license that allows them to do just that.
