Smartphones wouldn’t be so useful without internet and this is why the wireless industry is so thriving. Everything runs on 4G networks at the moment, but things are looking like they are going to change in the upcoming future because 5G is coming. According to multiple reports, 5G networks are 100 times faster than the current data speeds. This is super impressive, and it will surely make a huge difference for people who enjoy surfing the web while mobile.

5G Wireless Network

The only downside about 5G networks is that they require a cellphone tower equipment to be in the proximity to function. However, U.S. wireless companies are saying that this isn’t going to be a problem because they are planning to install more than 300,000 new antennas across the country.

Cellphone Towers Cause Concern

The plan to install more than 300,000 antennas by U.S. wireless companies is an ambitious one. In case you didn’t know, the U.S. is currently covered by nearly 300,000 antennas and doubling that number is raising some concern among the population.

“The cell towers are called small cell towers, but they are not so small when they are in your front yard. This will cause cancer” said Donna Barron who is a concerned citizen that is protesting against installing 5G antennas in Montgomery County, Maryland.

AT&T Speaks Out

This should come as no surprise, but AT&T is the company that’s the most adamant about completing the new project and installing 300,000 5G antennas in the U.S. AT&T noticed that people all around the country are worried about the antennas and decided to release this following statement:

“We’re going to use our existing infrastructure today. Whether it’s light poles, whether it’s street lights. So we’re going to make sure that we don’t make it obtrusive to our customers and to the citizens,” said AT&T’s Melissa Arnoldi.
