Have deep and meaningful conversations

Talk about your experience so your child can understand why the need to pursue excellence. If you have struggled growing up it is a great idea to share this experience with your child. They will appreciate the hard work and sacrifice that you have made so they can live a comfortable life. Tell them about the benefits of hard work and sacrifice. Children will listen to you. Maybe not now but someday they will.

 

Reward them for excellence

If your child has been doing well in school then reward them. This is a great way to motivate your child. They will work harder if they know that there is a prize for them. This applies to parents who can afford to reward hard work. If you can’t then a simple reward is enough. Give them a hug or a kiss. Tell them that you are very proud. Children like to make their parents proud.

 

Be their biggest cheerleader

Attend their sports events and cheer for them when you can. Once they are aware that their parent is supporting them then they will feel good. If your kid has an exam tell them that they will perform will. Believe in your child.

Inspire your children by working hard. They will look up to you and be inspired by your hard work. They can use all your achievements as a fuel to be great. This is very effective especially when a child is following the same career path that you have taken. Set the example for your child to follow.

A healthy environment is very important when you want to motivate your children. Children need a stable family around them. Sometimes children can be demotivated when they are worried about their parents quarreling and getting a divorce. They will lose interest in school and their social life. Try to create a healthy environment for your child.
