The Android versus iOS debate has been going on for years now. Today we will analyze five ways in which the Play Store is better than the App Store.
1. App previews
The Apple App Store generally has app videos that are short and sweet, taking up 30 seconds of your time at most, and sometimes as little as 10 seconds. While brevity is important and nobody wants to bore their audience, this isn’t recommendable when presenting more complex apps. This is the first sector where Google seems to get it better than Apple.
2. Searching for apps
It’s way easier to find apps on the Play Store than on the App Store. Let’s face it, Google simply made app visibility a priority more so than Apple when they designed their online marketplace.
3. App cost
This is something that everyone knows, regardless of whether they own an Apple device or an Android one: the Google Play Store offers way more free apps, and even those that cost money are cheaper than they are on the App Store. While this can also have some disadvantages, no one can deny that using the Play Store is friendlier for your budget.
4. App compatibility
Apps on the Play Store are generally compatible off the bat for any Android device, be it a smartphone, tablet or anything else. However, on the App Store, there are a lot of apps that work well on iPhones, but not that well on iPads for example.
5. App distribution
Google has a far more laissez-faire attitude towards app distribution. As long as an app it’s not offensive, it can circulate freely. Apple on the other hand is very strict. Each app has to be tested by an actual human being before going up in the store. While this can certainly be beneficial, it also discourages developers.
