Currently, there are 2,624 apps in the Apple TV App Store available for download. This number is gotten from the App Figure research. In their post, they not only talked about the number of the available apps, but also the weekly data from November 3 to December 3. From the graphic it’s seen the increased number of the apps in the Store. Apple TV App Store is growing steadily with the average of 447 new apps added to the store every week.
The graphic shows the store can reach 5,000 apps in about a month and 10,000 in early 2016. The apps are dominated by games. There are 1002 games or around 38%, following by the entertainment apps in the second place. The surprised thing is the shopping app category that only has 9 apps. Apple TV was also positioned as a digital shopping center for family, beside as a game console and entertainment.
The other chart that is posted by App Figures is associated with the top download category, free vs paid apps. From the graphic we get:
- There are more than 20 categories in which the apps can be submitted to, but only 7 are currently visible.
- 61% of all apps are free
- 85% of paid apps cost between $0.99 and $2.99.
- Entertainment apps dominate the top charts (28 of the Top 50).
- Only 8 of the top 50 apps are games.
