2019 Motorola RAZR Prototype Images Surface from Patent Filing; Resembles RAZR Model of Yesteryears
Lenovo seems to be revisiting the old Motorola RAZR V3 design to launch a new foldable phone according to a patent application the company has filed with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Going by the images displayed along with the patent application, some of the design aspects are familiar while the others are being suitably adopted to meet the present standards in the smartphones. Not much by way of the specification of the device is available though.
A Secondary Screen Can be Seen on the Rear Folding Panel
The sketches indicate that there will be a second panel that can display the notifications and show the calls received etc. without the user having to open up the fold. The hinge can be observed and so can the slot above the secondary display meant for the camera be noted. Even a fingerprint sensor may be accommodated on the lower half of the rear panel. The front main display appears to be a tall one but there is a thick chin.
Some Rumors on the Motorola Foldable Phone 2019
There have been other sources as well speculating on this new development from Lenovo. One of them says the device will be made in limited quantities, around 200,000 only and that the phone will be priced in the region of $1,500. In the US market, this new Motorola RAZR 2019 version with the foldable design is likely to be a Verizon exclusive.
There is no confirmation yet on details like the date by which this phone could be released or which other markets, apart from the US the phone will be sold in. The broad expectation is that the foldable phone from Motorola may be announced as early as in February, but this is not certain. There are some hints that Android will be the operating system. This is based on reports from Google that it has a version of the popular OS tweaked to accommodate the foldable phones.
Observers are quick to refer to the proposed Samsung Galaxy F or foldable smartphone from the South Korean company. It is reported through some South Korean sources that Lenovo has borrowed some technology from Samsung for its RAZR 2019 version foldable Motorola phone. Samsung’s offering is likely to be released in March 2019 as per last reports.
