NEC has presented a new way to unlock your mobile phone with the help of the headphones. To develop this technology, the Japanese company has inspired from the way the sound resonates in a person’s ear to identify it. The shape of each ear is unique, like fingerprints.
NEC has developed a pair of in-ear headphones with microphones. They can measure in about one second, the acoustics of the ear after transmitting a sound.
According to the NEC, in 99% of cases, the technology identifies a person. The system will be used for unlocking mobile devices as an alternative to fingerprint sensors and other security systems.
The Japanese Corporation has announced that it will market the technology in the 2018 fiscal year.
