Meerkat, livestreaming app now available for all Android users

Two most popular live streaming apps are Meerkat, and Twitter’s Persicope app. When it comes to basic functionality, these two apps are practically identical, which is why they are often compared. The apps are offering simple and easy way to stream live videos from your smartphone. The Persicope app and Meerkat are similar, but it should be mentioned that Periscope allows its users to save a live stream, and Meerkat doesn’t have that option.

The Persicope app was launched on iOS in March, and there were some promises the app will soon be available for Android users as well, but it didn’t happen. Meerkat was launched also on iOS first. Several weeks ago, the Meerkat app became available for Android devices, but not for everyone, because it was the closed beta program. The users who wanted to check out the app needed to sign up via Google form, in order to get the access. Since it was the testing period, the company probably wanted to limit the number of users, which is something many companies do when testing the app.

It seems that the private beta program is over, because now, Meerkat app is available for all Android users, and if you want to check it out, you will find it in the Google Play Store. The app still has the beta tag. With this app, you can stream live videos from your smartphone to all your followers on Twitter, and those who watch the video will be available to retweet the stream in real time, to their followers. If you use Android device, you can get Meerkat – it’s now available in Google Play Store.
